London To Brighton (18)

Thursday 25th October 2007
Paul Andrew Williams 2006 - 85mins
UK

24 hours in the life of a prostitute and a young runaway, fleeing to Brighton in a desperate attempt to save their own lives.

It's a cold-sweat gangland thriller with a twist of social realism, which pays intelligent homage to Mike Hodges and Ken Loach.

Score:   68.42%

Some Members' Comments:

Wonderful acting and well worked out story.  Didn't expect the twist at the end.
I enjoyed Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.
Gritty is an understatement!!  Excellent!
Excellent.

Grim, but very wellplayed, especially the young girl, impressive camera work too.
Powerful - but is it really entertainment.
Very well made but too brutal for me.

Sinister - perhaps every female teenager who is thinking of running away should see it.
That's where smoking and bad language will get you.

Too brutal.
Gruesome.

Why make such awful films?  Why show them?  Not really, but why?
