Christmas, 16 years since the revolution, Piscoci is preparing for a holiday alone.  Manescu tries to keep up with his debts.  Jderescu seems uninterested in the coming holidays.  For him, the time to face history has come.  Along with Manescu and Piscoci he is trying to find the answer to a question that has plagued him for 16 years:  was there a revolution in their town.
