The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (PG)
Thursday 18th September 2008
Julian Schnabel 2007 - 112 mins
France/USA
Language: French
In 1995, Bauby, editor of Elle magazine, suffered
a stroke. When he awoke 20 days later he was a prisoner in his
own body, suffering from "locked in" syndrome. Extraordinary
camerawork evokes his return to the world. Schnabel locks us in
Bauby's world with him. A claustrophobic and dazzlingly inventive
film.

Excellent - very moving
Amazing film, certainly worth seeing
Brilliant acting, captured disconnectiveness and helplessness of stroke victim.
Excellent interpretation. Tres bien.
Maybe the human race is not too bad.
Profound
Why so loud? Too loud x 2.
Like the star, I was trapped.
Moving but relentless
Intriguing and remarkable in many ways.
Why did all the women
look the same? what was fb in bottom corner? Worthy effort,
but had difficulty turning story into full length film.
